Sustainable Development Business Cluster:

The Greater Victoria Region has a tremendous number of sustainable development related companies, research and construction projects. As global demand continues for sustainable technologies continues to increase, this group of companies and educational institutions will have a larger economic and environmental role in our region. The expertise and technologies that they generate can be developed and retained locally, while providing an export opportunity for our region.

Maximizing Industry and Academic Partnerships:

The Greater Victoria Region is very fortunate to have world class learning and research institutions. In order to maintain a vibrant economy, it is important that we maximize the opportunities that are created from the great talent and ideas that they generate. The GVDA, in partnership with industry and our learning institutions promotes local development opportunities to companies, private investors and other financial institutions. These activities include industry roundtables, regional and international development marketing and trade missions, as well as hosting business delegations from outside the region.

Labour Force Development and Attraction:

The region has one of lowest unemployment rates in the country. Surveys by a variety of authorities have identified lack of skilled labour at all levels and in all industries as a barrier to growth. Working with industry, academic and government partners, the GVDA is actively working to help establish a premier workforce for businesses in the region.

Vancouver Island Transportation:

Being on an island, transportation has always played a vital role in the economic success of our region. In order to remain competitive, it is important to make sure that the citizens and businesses of the region have efficient and reliable transportation services. In partnership with the transportation authorities and industry, the GVDA supports the continued improvement of transportation within the GVDA region as well as to/from the area.
